An-Ski, S. (Rapoport, Solomon Seinwil)
(1863-1920)
   Russian author. He was born in Belorussia and settled in Paris in 1894. In 1905 he returned to Russia and joined the Social Revolutionary Party. He composed the party's hymn (Di Shvue) and wrote folk legends, Hasidic tales, and stories about Jewish poverty. His play The Dybbuk was translated into Hebrew by Hayyim Nahman Bilalik. His Yiddish works were published in five volumes.
